Jeff Bezos: National Enquirer hits back over Amazon chief’s blackmail claim – The Times

The National Enquirer has denied claims of “extortion and blackmail” made by the Amazon boss Jeff Bezos.

The billionaire, who owns The Washington Post, accused the magazine of threatening to publish intimate photos to stop him from investigating how it obtained private text messages that exposed his extramarital affair with Lauren Sánchez.

Mr Bezos, 55, has suggested that the Enquirer’s pursuit of him was linked to President Trump, an old friend of David Pecker, head of American Media Inc, which owns the Enquirer. He also says there could be a connection to Saudi Arabia because The Washington Post employed Jamal Khashoggi, the writer murdered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last year.
