Cruises are a time for holidaymakers to let loose and enjoy themselves but two passengers had an appalling start to their trip when a cruise ship worker let a little too loose himself. British couple Bobby, 64, and Mary Jackson, 62 were greeted with the sight of a man and woman having sex on the bed when they first entered their cabin on the 2,376-passenger Norwegian Jewel, bound from Singapore to Thailand. They claim crew later revealed the man was a member of staff on the ship but the woman’s identity was not known. Mary described the incident as “extremely unpleasant,” telling The Sun: “We are not prudes but this was ridiculous.”

The couple had paid £4,800 for the week-long trip – the first cruise the pair had ever taken.
The holiday had started badly even before they found the cruise worker in flagrante delicto, the couple claim.
They said they were forced to wait for two and a half hours in blazing heat on the quayside at Singapore’s Marina Bay before they boarded the boat.
Once they had finally boarded they found the key card didn’t work on the first attempt.
Finally, on the third try, the door opened – and they were greeted with the sight of the naked duo.
Mary told The Sun: “I could see the back of a man on the bed who was directly facing us and it was obvious he was in the middle of having sex with a woman… I was traumatised and I needed a glass of water.”

The British couple’s cabin attendant informed his supervisor on discovery of the cruise worker’s shocking deed.
After complaining to the ship’s guest relations manager, Mary and Bobby were told the cruise ship was full so they could not be relocated to an alternative cabin.
They claim that when they returned to the cabin the male cruise worker was still in there and had to be “persuaded to leave” by two members of the crew.
For compensation, the couple were offered the equivalent of about £100 of credits to spend on the ship but they say they were “insulted” by this.
The holiday failed to improve for the cruisers, however, as Mary got a stomach bug two days later and had to stay in her cabin for most of the rest of the trip, she claims.

Norwegian Cruise Line told Express.co.uk a full investigation had taken place and the appropriate action taken.
They said they had contacted the Jacksons to discuss compensation after the couple said they were unhappy with the initial offer of £200 each in credits towards their next trip with the firm, if taken this year.
A cruise ship worker for Carnival Cruise Line, Brian David Bruns, revealed in his book Cruise Confidential, that cruise workers have to watch what they discuss on board.
Bruns tells his readers that cruise ship crew were instructed to never talk about politics.
He quotes one of the trainers as saying: “There is a big difference between people and their government. Not all of us are from democracies, after all, and even a democracy does not necessarily reflect its people.”
Carnival cruise workers were also told to avoid discussing military action.
The trainer said: “Never mention all the military actions of the US. It’s completely against policy, but more importantly, the guests won’t know what you’re talking about and will probably be offended.”
